Not having a 240 for quite some time and having the munchies for wendy's....I had to think fast to put that huge cup and i just took out the ash tray and place it there, held it carefully while cornering and shifting.
Maybe with some time i could fab a plastic molding for a cup size, prevent condensation getting to the wiring and seat belt control but then again its perfect for my phone. I tried several different mounts for my phone and to no avail to what i want it for.
Sometimes with a plastic bottle i usually just place it between the seat belt and seat and holds well, but for small cans like red bull or pop, things with no top...thats no good.
So, i tried this...
Gaffers tape(duct) It actually works!! And if you need any mods comparable to zip tie mods, there ya go! til you hit a huge bump then fails....
Then i remembered a thing a bought in japan for my 2001 subie. The subie had a cup holder right above the head unit, which was a dumb idea cause it would drip all over the stereo.
I had it in a box of old stuff....I used to use it in the glove box and it held well...but since the 240 has a slanted mount it didn't hold well there, so i put it near the shifter =] The original sticker started to peel so i slapped my autobot badge on it =]
I bought like 10 of these in japan like 8 years ago, this was the last one i had, gave and sold the rest to others...Its made by Carmate, not sure if they are still around. Searching around the lil asian stores in seattle, i can't seem to find anything like it...=[
