so the cable on my window snaped. and since its damn imposible to find one at the local junk yards. i was wondering if i could maybe just pull the regulator assembly out of the door and just replace the cable. it looks like just a standard steel cable.

probably, ive never tried. i have replaced about 12 240 windows. but never had just the cable snap. give it a try, its only gonna cost a couple bucks for cable and some kind of ends.

I actually replaced the broken cable on my 240. What I did was go to my local bike shop with the cable and asked them if they had something similar in size and length. I then trimmed it to exact length and had to solider on a little ball for it to lock into the plastic drum. Then i replaced the rivets I drilled out with short bolts and washers. But after a little while of having to reach across the car to roll down passenger window did the manual to power window swap. And been loving the power ever since.

Yeah didnt think I would care about power windows that much until I started driving the coupe around.

Going to a mountain bike shop seems like a good way to get that cable.
