Ok so i have a 1993 S13 with a complete stock KA24DE with 80k miles on it.Prior this incident i had to remove the valve cover because i wanted to take the 2 upper chain guides so i can get rid of that annoying rattling sound. Everything is all good so i start the car, it runs fine and no more annoying rattling noise.

I drive for a couple days and then finally the car gives up on me.. The car wouldnt start so i figured it had to do something with the plugs.. So i take out all the spark plug wires and 2 middle plugs were covered with oil!!! I HAVE STRIPPED THE MIDDLE VALVE COVER BOLT on my KA24DE engine and this whole time i was driving it, oil was slippin through into the spark plugs ;(.

I had to tow the car home and take out the plugs and clean them. Car started fine again but i have to do something with this. I have been thinking of using heli-coil but i am not too sure yet.

Any ideas which way is best for me to fix this problem?

PS: Lesson learned. Always use a torque wrench even if its 5 or so lbs. ;(

I'm sorry man that sux. I noticed 2 days ago that #2 cylinder has some oil leaking into the spark plug chamber. I soaked up the oil but I need to get a new gasket put on soon.

You don't need to a torque wrench for those bolts. Just a 1/4" drive ratchet. There should be no reason you're stripping those bolts unless you're a gorilla who's done an all night bender on anabolic steroids

Although I have not used a heli-coil for this I was going to. Blew the motor before I got to this fix. If you do it correctly, a heli-coil should fix the problem. If you are not cofortable doing it yourself then I am sure youcould find a mechanic that will take your money to do it for you. Olny other option I know of is replace the head.

Heli-coil is a LOT cheaper.
