S13 KA24DE Timing

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I know the stock timing should be set at 20° +/-2° but I wanted to know what would be best for performance. The +2° or the -2° and if I went that route if I would have to up my octane since I run 87 octane. Thanks for the info.

Knock it forward to ~22-23 BTDC ... and then you will need to use premium fuel.

Set the base timing with your TPS unplugged, idle at ~700rpm, warm motor...setting it without those conditions met and it'll be wrong.

correct me but shouldnt you be using 91 or higher octane anyways?

The KA runs just fine on 87 arco gas. No knocking at any point and running strong. Plus it's a stock KA so I don't see a need for running anythign higher and more expensive than 87. So basically anything over 20° would need better octane. K, i'll keep that in mind,
