hey, well the story goes as this, my stock S13(93) radiator died on it(it was bubling inside where the black plastic goes, and it had a small hole), well i just bought an S14(95) radiator(looks like a nice upgrade since its bigger), and well since its bigger it sticks further into the engine.now there's a what looks like intake resonator on the passanger side of the radiator, its an air box that only connects to the intake, no other inlet/outlet, and i guess it doesn't come in the S14's, it is in place with some screws attached to the lower fan shroud, and i was wondering, is it safe to take that out and not have idle issues or issues of other kind?, i could plug the part on the intake where the hose goes.(it doesn't matter if it makes the intake louder than normal).

S14s have it as well in the same spot. There is no harm in removing it just a bit louder intake. No need to plug up the other pipe air will still flow, no issues.

k so its not necessary.......but i do have to plug the hole thats on the underside of the intake pipe right? cause i mean air can get in/out that is not metered by the MAF.

UPDATE: removed the intake resonator, and plugged the hole where it goes to the intake, car runs fine and doesn't overheat now with the 95 radiator, i still need to get the rad tight but its fine right now, doesn't move at all when driving.

I took mine out on purpose. Its job is to silence the motor, so it will sound better if you take it out. I would get rid of it for shure.

HERES A V8 MUSTANG SOUND.

REMOVE THAT THING, PUT A K&N AIR FILTER, AND CUT A BIG CIRCLE UNDER THE AIR BOX.

sTILL STOCK LOOK, BUT WAY BETTER PERFORMANCE AND SOUND. bEEN RUNNING LIKE THAT FOR FOUR YEARS.

every car that has had an aftermarket intake or pop charger has removed the intake resonator. should actual free up a few hp and give you a cool sound although somewhat louder. Some people leave the resonator in place but drill larger (1") holes in the aircleaner box directly below the filter. Emphysis on below the filter.

to make a cheap intake (did this on my old wrx, and a buddy's altima) i cut the whole lower half of the airbox out, leaving only a frame for the filter, and "legs" to bolt it down, that way the whole lower half is an intake, instead of a little 2 inch circle. works fine. sounds great.
