This is very straight forward for the newbies like myself. It probably saved me 2weeks of guesswork.

LOL! That's funny 'cause I still have it! I need to take my drain pan in to be dumped and the rest of the fluids are in a couple of milk jugs in the storage closet. My first oil change will be coming up in awhile so I better get off my duff!

Awesome post! This is going to help me out so much when I pull out my engine in a few weeks.

One questions though. I was hoping not to pull the transmission with it, since my transmission is fine, it's just my engine I am fixing. Is it possible to pull the engine with out the transmission?

Out the Bottom: If you have a lift and don't mind removing most of the undercarriage, and then possibly having to tackle body warping issues later since you removed important structural components from the car.Out the Top: if its on jack stands, or you're sane and don't enjoy doing a lot of unnecessary work

Fixed.

EDIT: Firewind: Yes, but it's actually easier to pull it *with* the trans, then take that off once its out of the car. Easy access to the bellhousing bolts, which can be a bear to get to.

Del's right, out the top is best and easiest. Getting to the tranny bolts(without a lift)with it still in the car would be a pain and I can't see how you would be able to stab the transmission in with it still bolted up. You have to be able to give it a little shimmy-sham when you stab it.

read the write up and its great.

i had and am still having trouble with the driveshaft, but it'll work out. one problem im still having is when your disconnecting the harness completely, theres a connecter by the ECU covered in foam, WAAAAAAYYY up there in a crevice thats a bish to connect/disconnect. i swear, you have to have a 3 inch hand to do anything with it. ive managed to disconnect it, but cant connect it again. again, WHAT WERE THE ASAIN PEOPLE MAKING THE CAR THINKING????!

I know EXACTLY which connector you are talking about, I HATE that connector. It's almost impossible to disconnect, I spent like 15 minutes trying to take it off when I removed the KA and when I was wiring the SR I mistakenly connected it but had the ECU upside down and had to disconnect it again...took about 20 minutes of cussing and fussin'! What were they thinking on that one!

The S13 is OBD I where the S14's are OBDII so it won't work as far as I know....anyone else chime in on this!

yeah i know that difference only reason we're leading to believe it fits b/c the engine for the most part appears to be exact fit, but either way i could also take his ecu and use it in mine?

and also from what i've heard, the 95 was OBD I. apparently towards the end of the year they changed it to OBD II

the engine is the same exact engine. Yes it should be OBD1. Considering they started making the 95 cars in 94 and OBD2 didnt come around until 96.

If you want to use your harness then you have to change the dizzy because the s14s went to the internal coil, and you have to change the intake manifolds I belive it is the top part only, change the s14 exhaust manifold, and the vacume housing in the back of the head, but thats all I know about that if you want to use ur own s13 ecu and wiring harnes but thats only my 2cents

I highly reccomend pulling them together. One time I pulled just my engine, and when I put it back in I snapped off the sleeve the TOB rides on. That lead to almost FUBARing my new clutch, and screwed up my oem TOB. Of course that ment I had to pull the engine AGAIN.

It may take a little longer, but really its just easy work. Putting the engine/tranny together is a B**** most of the time and like I said before can lead to broken parts.

Super write up i am so glad someone took the time and took photos instead of jumping in hands first. This doc helped way more than my chiltons manual that i was using. Have to get the motor & tranny out for the 450sx swap.

Hey bro just got having an issue wondering if you could help me out. I have two fans instead of just the one your showing on the engine. I screwed up the fan shroud which is what holds the second fan in place so now I have to buy a new one. Not sure if the fan behind the radiator is necessary or not but I there's no way to pull it out without cutting the wires so I haven't worked on the car in like a week. Im currently trying to pull the motor, but im in the beggining proccess. Aside from that I also have two cables that connect to the throttle where you only removed one. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Is this an automatic or a manual?
