Hi guys. I searched for a topic for this, but turned up none. Hopefully this can be a first.

Basically, I took my 240 out to get its A/C checked at Goodyear and they said the compressor isn't working. Not only that, I have to replace the whole system. They wanted way more $$$ than I can afford or consider worth it ($1000+ for a whole new system, they don't do used )

What I need to know is what parts do I need to gather, since I rather have a perfectly working used system and have a pro to install it. Sure, it's not new, but for my 240 that's ok. Since my friend has an S14 with a working A/C, he's offering it to me since he's swapping out the engine.

So far, I know there's the compressor and the condenser. There are also other parts to the system, any ideas? I need to know the A/C parts that are in the engine bay, my cabin A/C are ok.

Also, are they any differences b/w S13 and S14 KA24DE's that might make the A/C systems different?

Thanks.

they can't tell you the whole system much less anything is bad without first seeing the compressor working. before you go buying all kinds of parts, first check the a/c relay and fuse. if thats your first problem then go back to good year and kick the s/m in the balls

Thanks, I'll make sure.

They did a diagnostic on the compressor when I brought it in and said the compressor won't pump and when they gave me an estimate, I just took my car and left.

To mention also, whenever I try turning on the A/C, it just blows uncooled air and the compressor makes this constant clicking noise all the time. The belts even make this squealing noise whenever I turning on the A/C also. My heater works fine. Anyone knows what this means?

There is a good chance the clutch in you compressor is bad. I fixed my AC after a bad repair job by AC 'professionals"....i paid almost $800.00 dollars for a one year of A/C....

The second time, I bought a new compressor on Ebay, a valve and dryer. 3 years later is running like a champ. You might have contamination in your system but a good flushing will take care of it. Then replace parts, fill with refrigerant and voila! Search the web/NICO for tips and basic A/C operation before troubleshooting.
