I’ve got a 93 Vert with 92K miles.

For past several thousand miles, I get an intermittent loss of power and chunky idle. It does not matter if the car is warm or cold. Happens more when it’s raining, but not always the case.

The idle is so rough it will shake the entire car and all the way through the RPM band it is way low on power. I actually have to put the car in N when not moving in order to keep the entire car from rattling apart.

I have replaced the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor button. Tried different gas, etc.

I have looked and I can’t find any vaccum leaks.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Try the following:

Tap on the mass air flow meter on your intake duct with a screw driver. If it causes your car to stumble there's your problem.

Get a squirt bottle and mist down your cap, rotor and wires with water.

Pull off one plug wire at a time and see if any cylinders are missing.

If you find a cylinder missing check your basics: compression, fire and fuel.

Injectors can go bad on these cars but they would cause a dead miss so I dont think its that.

My bet is on a Mass air flow.

so, i just went out and did as you suggested. when pulling the plug wires all would retard the engine except the number 2 plug wire. it ran no different when that one was pulled. i pulled it from the distributor side and i can see its getting spark, but obviously its not igniting in the motor.

suggestions? clogged fuel injector?

sorry for the delay.. work!!!

Check the injector with a noide light. You should have a pulse. If you dont have one of those lights heres what u can do. Ohms test the injector... I forget the exact specs but u should only have like .010 resistance. If you dont have a meter a quick and simple way of checking injector pulse is put an extension from a ratchet on top of the injector (the other end to your ear) and see if you hear ticking coming from the injector. Try known good injectors so you can get use to the sound.. then go to the bad one and see if it sounds the same. Now you will hear a slight tick because the injectors share the same rail. But all the injectors should sound equally loud. Hope this helps!!!

Dont forget to check your spark plug too to make sure it is not fouled from improper fireing of the cylinder even if its only been a day or two of driving with a miss.
