I was posting a while back about swapping the S13 motor over to my S14, and everyone said that as long as my s14 intake mani was still being used it would work-WRONG. My head was ported too much for that to work, so I swapped over the port -matched intake mani from the s13, and it didnt run because of the harness and ecu didnt match. So I bought a harness and s13 ecu(which courtesy nissan in texas sent me a power harness instead of an engine harness, and when I sent it back they said it was burnt up and wouldnt return my money, they sent it back to me and the harness is in perfectly new condition like they sent to me in.....). So 700 bux after that, we get it all hooked up perfectly, but the car still doesnt seem to have that much power(seems less than stock), and it starts to struggle in gear at about 4Krpms, and it wont go past 5.6K!!! But for some reason it will rev up just fine all the way to and past redline(theres no more limiter, and it only revs out of gear all the way up most of the time). The engine seems to sound nice but it doesnt want to drive right. It still has the s14 crank sensor and the s14 transmission, and cams in the engine. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!BryanSo Cal UTI Student

sounds like u had fun. But i would change to a s13 crank sensor, stat. It has to help.

And just FYI ur swap is illegal, dont tell ur state inspection guy. Cant put an older motor into a new car.~Sam

I have someone that will smog me because it passes emissions test in cali. It just has to pass visual, and he said he'll do it, but its the most messed up problem, i replaced the fuel pump to bigger maxima pump, might do injectors soon, already have MSD SCI, nology hot wires, NGK Iridium plugs, header exhaust, intake, and the three angle valve job, car's engine sounds damn smooth, loud, and good. Planning on going full turbo 400 horses, but if all else fails, someone can give me an offer on the engine and transmission, and ill get an SR or a btrand new stock KA.If anyone else has anymore ideas, please let me know, iam, desperate!!! and by the way this will be a track car, probably wont go and smog it. I know about the whole older engine into a newwer car but i dont give a flying F*CKthanks for your help kouki

Swap back to an S14 wire harness and ECU...you made this SO much harder on yourself, and introduced so many variables, there's no way to tell what's up now.

And FYI...You CAN use either intake manifold, it's the sesnors that are different...physically, they're almost identical, and certainly swap-able. To use your S13 intake mani, just swap the IACV and AAC valves onto it, and the coolant temps sensors (both of 'em), etc...off the S14 onto the S13 intake mani. Easy.

Then it's plug and play.

So S14 wire harness, S14 ECU, S13 intake mani (with S14 sensors)...what's so hard about that?

I guarantee it's easier than tracking down your current issues!

to answer kouki i meant any ideas to help me further then what has been said that far.To answer orion, btw thanks for all the info in the past, I have used the S14 intake mani, and it doesnt work because the porting on the head isnt ANYWHERE NEAR the size of the stock porting on the s14 mani. And I already owe someone a d!ck of money for wiring up the s13 ecu and harness, but if all else fails i will swap the s14 intake mani back over with the ecu and the harness, but the IACV and other stuff on the S13 mani are all useless(either gone or permanently plugged up, there are no emission things on my intake mani from the s13, my s14 intake mai is stpck. should i change the cams over to the s13 cams(since theyre supposed to be in the engine anywayz, i have no idea why he put the s14 small cams into the si3 head), and should i try the s13 transmission, which i dont think can do to much, and will the crank sensor swap really help??? everything seems to work in the engine but it cuts out at high RPM....weirdest thing ever.thanks again guys, please keep the comments coming, im attending UTI and learning alot about stuff like this, so by the time i graduate this situation will be easy for me to figure out.bryanmy rx-7 is doin ****ty so i have to get the 40 to work soon, i have no money and need to get to school everyday which is an hour and a half awaythanks again
