I recently purchased a set of 180sx sidemarkers. They didnt come with any wiring or anything so I just decided to use my original stuff. The only problem is the bulb seems to be to tall and wont insert all the way in to the sidemarker. Without the bulb it goes in just fine. Ive already tried looking for shorter bulbs but I cant find any anywhere. Does anyone have any sugestions or know why they dont use the same bulbs as the usdm ones?

Sounds like you'll just have to rig something up.

I just installed mine this morning. Because the USDM has a "deeper" mount for the socket, you can't use a USDM plug and 194 bulb with the JDM lens. The JDM has a different bulb socket than the USDM one. You have to use the JDM bulb socket with the JDM lens, or get handy with some plastic epoxy and build something. Sorry man. You should have bought complete lights with sockets. Even then, you have to custom wire them as the JDM sockets will not plug into the USDM harness. Total pain, but they look nice installed.

not entirely true. i mean yes, i had to wire mine, but its 2 wires on each side so its very simple. and mine came with the body side of the plug so i wired the plugs in and its completely plug and play now

Nice. Mine just had the lens side plug. For the driver's side, I soldered in the USDM harness connector to the JDM bulb socket. For the passenger side, I used 2 female spade connectors and hooked them up to the JDM bulb socket directly.
