Have'nt found a good home yet for the cabin air sensor. I will when I replace my dash.

Hi I just started collecting parts for my climate control instal. I have the dcc, harness, sunload sensor, ambient air temp sensor, I think i have the bower speed controller but could some post a pic or desribe what it looks like outside the airbox?

the parts I need are the blend door motor(aka air mix motor) I went through so many maximas and q45s today and grabbed the one that I thought looked closest to the pictures but i got the wrong one. but im pretty sure I saw the right one at the junkyard.

now where do I find the cabin air temp sensor and aspirator(and pictures where to mount it would be great!) what is the thermo amp and what does it look like and where is it located

I don't have a pic of the thermo control amp out of the car, but it will be in the same location on the max and Q45s.

This is the best pic I can find of the blower speed controller.

I'm not 100% sure, but as far as I can tell the air mix motor for the max (only up to the 94 model) will work as long as you get everything with it. (brackets, linkage, ect...)

On the max when you remove the trim around the climate control/ radio you'll see a black rubber hose(aspirator tube), the piece that the hose is attached to on the trim is the cabin temp sensor, just follow the hose back into the dash to find the aspirator( it is attached to the air box with a screw).

I glued the cabin temp sensor to the change holder on the dash, and put a few small slots in the front to allow for air flow over the sensor.(there is a pic in the first post towards the bottom)

You, sir, are amazing! :D One question though, what's an aspirator?

i like what you did for the aspirator tube, beatup. I think i will do the same on my setup.

I did'nt use a JDM Thermo control amp, but my setup seems fine without it. I dont get any error codes when I put the DCC in diagnostic mode.

MODS, WHY HAS'NT THIS BEEN STICKIED YET???

Fixed.

Dammitboy and Beatupsx... how about one or both of you collaborate on an article? We'll need parts required (and part numbers, if possible), where to get said parts, and the step by step you have already provided. Toss an article together and we'll do you better than the sticky!

How do you get it in diagnostic mode? I spent an half an hour one day trying to figure it out.

Thanks for the sticky, masticatingcow!

To run a self-diagnostic for the DCC:

Turn engine on. Within 10 second of starting engine, press and hold ‘OFF’ button on the ACC for 5-10 seconds until all segments on the display light up. Test 1- Display Test. Look for any missing segments or iconsPress Up arrow to get to Test 2.Test 2 – Input signals from each sensor Wait a couple seconds and it’ll display error codes (20=all ok, 21=ambient, 22=in-vehicle, 24=intake, 25=sunload (test in sunlight to prevent this error), 26=PBR)Press Up arrow to get to Test 3 or Down arrow to get to Test 1Test 3 – Mode Door Motor This test takes a little longer. 30=all modes ok, 31=vent, 32=B/L, 33=B/L, 34=Foot/Def 1, 35=Foot/Def 2, 36=DefPress Up arrow to get to Test 4 or Down arrow to get to Test 3Test 4 – Actuators Test Pattern Toggle modes 41-46 by pressing defrost button on ACC.Test 5 – Temperature Readings Press defrost button to toggle through sensors (ambient, in-vehicle, intake in that order). If the temp is -22, then that sensor is not working. The temperature can also be adjusted to compensate for differences between temp setting and the temp felt by driver. It can be adjusted 6 degrees up or down. While in Test 5, press the fan switch and then the temp adjustment can be made using the Up/Down arrows.Hit Auto button or turn car off to exit self-diag.

ok thanks for the info. I pulled out several blower motor speed controllers and none look like that. I pulled one off a 92 or so maxima and it looks just like the stock one does, it doesn't have those fins. I also grabbed one off a 91 q45 and it has round fins but its a 3 wire...

now I pulled off the blend(air mix) door motor from the same vehicle and i don't see how i could get it to work, the arm is on the other side... i've also looked at several g20's but they are different also. and i know for sure that the 96 maximas aren't the same. does anyone know for sure a vehicle that i could get this motor off of. gosh this sucks does anyone have part numbers or something for this thing?

I found the aspirator though, thanks again

The blower speed controller from the Q should work, the one I have is from a 92 Q and only has 3 prongs and works perfectly. The car that you get the blower controller from has to have automatic climate control. The only problem I had with the controller from the Q is that I had cut a little over a 1/4 inch off the heat sink so that it would go all the way in.

The only mix door motor I've seen that looks like it will work is the one off the max (94 and older). It looks like it will mount to the 240 air box with out any modification as long as you get every thing with it (bracket, linkage, ect)

Thanks for posting that Dammitboy, I couldn't figure that out to save my life the other day.

cool i didn't know that the 3 wire would work. does anything have to be rewired or do you use the stock usdm plug? I took apart my analog unit today and found out that the motor I had been looking for and bought was the fresh/recirc motor. arg! low and behold when i pulled out the analog unit its the exact same motor I have. so does the air mix door motor fit behind the fresh/recirc motor? if the maxima fresh air motor is the same maybe the airmix door motor is the same also... is it located somewhere else? I don't see how i could have missed it?

Nope you don't have to change a thing on the usdm blower plug.

The motor your talknig about in the 240,if it is the one on the bottom right of the air box, isn't the fresh/recirc motor.(I don't know what it is, but it doesn't work with the dcc so it can be removed) The air mix door motor in the max looks very similar to that unknown motor in the 240(if I remember right)and mounts in the same spot. (the max and 240 air box are the same)

i'm having one heck of a problem finding the ambeint temp sensor wires in the harness can you tell me what pin number they are in the 7 pin harness as the colors they are marked as in the diagram dont exist on my Dcc sub harness and i could also use the pin numbers for the 3 other wires in that harness for the +12v sources

Hello Beatup,

I was just wondering if you had any clues on how to get the blower working. I did try splicing the B/R wire from the 7 pin harness to the blower motor plug ( it has a B/R wire and B/W wire ) and i cant seem to get my blower options to work. I was waiting for Dammitboy to get back to me but he's pretty busy. Just wondering if you had any clues about this?

He said he hooked it up to another ignition source, what other wires should i try attaching this to, or do you think if I try splicing to a different b/r wire it'll work?

Some people have problems putting it there, try splicing into another ignition switched source.

ughs i've been looking at this wire diagram and i seriously must be stupid. The colors don't seem to match up and now i don't know which wires to try.

I was looking at ericherm1's first page of wiring diagrams, should i just try any colors that have the Ignition Switch Acc, On, Start? Sorry to be a hassle man, i've been trying this out for a while for this blower option.

The diagrams he posted are for a maxima so the wire colors probably won't be same. Just find any 12v source that is switched by the ignition. (radio power is a good place)
