I have a couple of questions about an issue that i have w/ my s13 240.

I was bleeding the coolant system & the bolt that connects @ the upper radiator nipple on the upper intake manifold snapped in half, leaving a portion of it in the bleeder hole (not sure of the exact term, but hopefully this is an accurate enough description). I got another upper intake manifold as opposed to locating a drill & tap set to get the remainder of the bolt out. i was telling a friend about this, and he suggested just getting an intake manifold off of a 95, as it was also an obdI motor, but did not have the butterfly valves in the manifold, but that would entail removing the egr valve. although the only reasoning that i can see for this is less turbulence in the manifold.

my questions are these- is there any real reason to this, and will it cause trouble codes, and can the same thing be accomplished by removing the butterfly valves from the second s13 intake manifold that i recently got?\

thanks in advance.

just extract the old bolt shaft it is far cheaper and takes less time then swapping the manifold. In most cases you can use a small rubber hose pressed against the remaining peice of bolt and simple unscrew it from the hole. unless you cross threaded it when putting it in.

excellent, as far as an immediate fix, that should take care of it then, but nevertheless i am still curious as to whether there is any benefit to not having those butterfly valves.

I would have to say no. My point of veiw is this. they were put in there for a reason.
