hey guys i finaily started driving my 89 hatch, i put a rebuilt ka24de in it. it ran alright on the drive home last nite(13mi, first drive more then just around the block). it drove alright, for at timing being at 10bdc (set it 20bdc today), with only a random bogging while cruising( id have to hit the gas to recover normal operation) but thats not my issue right now. now on my 4th drive i was leaving school today and i got to a light about a half mile down the road. i let it idle and it stalled out, but when i went to restart it it would just crank and crank and crank. i pushed it into a gas station. i started pulling plug wires and i had spark (seemed kinda weak to me), and i had fuel flowing(plugs were damp). i evently got it to start, but it idled really s*** i felt like i had to keep reving it ot keep it alive. got to where it broke down and it started to sound better i let it idle and died within a second, clean cutoff. i gave up and towed it home. i let my dad look at it, and he put the gas to floor and cranked it in a few secs it started and ran good he held it at about 3.5k and for a few secs and then let let it idle. it sat at about 1.5k for 10secs when he cut the engine off(i did adjust the idle air screw out earlyer in my attemps to make it idle during the breakdown). anyone got a clue whats going on with my igition system? im not to good at trouble shouting igition issues and the fsms dont really cover this.

ok guys so i tried to drive it this morroning as i really didnt want to drive my dads gas pig. i drove all right till i got about a mile from house when i stalled out mid shift(3rd-4th). i pushed it into a shopping center and breifly tried to make it run but i could do was make it sputter. i stoped by it no my way home from work jumped in and fired her right up barely had to push on the gas. shutoff cause i rembered i had to manualy pop my headlights. fired right back up and idled good so drove it home with no issues other4 then it was still smoking (was doing it for the past 4miles odd...). i made it home cut it off looked over the engine oil level was good, everything looked normal started it back up an let it idle for a while to see if it would died on its own. very quickly it stoped smoking, and idled good. after about 4 mins i desided to close the hood and drive it around the neighborhood to see if it would stall again. but the second i sat down she stalled and then was hard to start and didnt want to idle on its own.
im stuck on thinking its a bad coil/icm, i know the wires are bad but i dont have 70$ to spend on a good set. also i found a pair of ka24de coils and icms i got out the storage unit with the car would thos work with a ka24de. sorry if its sutpid question but im new to nissan althogh ive been an avid honda fan for the past 2years.

You can check the resistance on the coil and wires to see if they are still good. A cheap set of wires is 15 bucks in kentucky. Easiest thing to check first is for a vacuum leak. Start it and unplug a vacuum hose. Brake booster is usually easy for this. Cover the hole with your finger then uncover it some and see if the idle changes at all. If there is no change in idle with your finger off it you have a vacuum leak. You can also spray carb cleaner around vacuum hoses and see if the idle changes. Careful not to spray it on a hot exhaust. You might also hear a whishing sound. I don't know about the smoking though. Who rebuilt the engine? Might want to check compression.

Idk who rebuilt the engine but the presous owner claimed to do it i had to tear it open to unseasize it after it sitting for a year. Cyl 3 and 4 had light rust soo i gave it a few hone. The i put in all freah gaskets, valves and seals, twin exhaust cam swap. Im pretty sure i dont have a vaccum leak as i only have two vaccum lines FPR and brake booster and neither leak. I also deleted all emissions.
Im leaning to the bad coil and icm for now as i have em and it can cause this issues. Cheapest wires ive seen is like 30$ for ching chongs, advanced wanted almost 100$ for ngks WTF.
