I decide to take my car out for the first time in days since it's been warm out and I find that when I press my clutch pedal in, the pedal stays on the floor. I check out the clutch master cylinder and it's bone dry. So I jack the car up on the pass side and I find a puddle under my bellhousing area. First thing that came to my mind was "OMFG this is a long line to replace if it's broken." I examine my clutch slave and I see that the boot is torn. I have a friend go into the car to move the clutch pedal up and down while I'm under the car and the slave doesn't move at all even after putting fluid into the master. I'm about 95% sure that the only problem is my slave cylinder and I'm about to go buy a new one and replace it. Do you guys think there's anything else that could have went bad? I'm also gonna bypass my clutch dampener box since this is a perfect opportunity to do so.

Thanks for the help.

yep... sounds like your slave is done.

Pop in a new slave, keep bleeding it for like 15 minutes straight... good to go.

Also, get that stainless steel clutch line from FRsport, its like 20 bucks or something.

You guys can't know whats wrong just yet. Theres so many more questions.

1. You said there was a puddle under your car, where is it leaking from. Put fluid back in the cylinder, Have a friend press down the pedal, and watch where its leaking from. It has to leak from some where. Where it leaks from is where your problem is.

2. You said the pedal went down but not back up. You said you added fluid in but it still wouldnt come back up. Well, there could still be air in the line. Especially if you still have your clutch dampener installed. That things F**ks everyone up.

If the pedal goes down but doesnt come back up it could be...clutch masterclutch slaveLeak in the lineclutch dampeneror the actual clutch itself.

so to sum it up..

Sence you had a puddel underneath your car you need to find where it leaked out from and thats where your poblem is.

Sorry for the long post, theres just so much to cover, and theres so much more I could add to this..

^^ yah, you're right. if you don't see exactly where the leak is coming from, you really can't diagnose. I mean, a torn slave boot is bad, but that doesn't necessarily mean its from there (as long as the slave's shaft cylinder doesn't leak, it should still hold pressure).

leak around the Bellhousing area = slave / damper issue... but find out exactly where from. Get rid of that damper box too... it just complicates everything, and is probably why you can't see where the leak is coming from.

Lol Gary, you never pick up your phone!! I've bypassed the dampener box and replaced the slave with a new one. Pedal comes back up and no leaks anywhere just ran out of daylight to properly bleed the system out so I'll just let the car sit till tomorrow. When I removed the old slave, the rod was rusted to s*** and just fell apart so I'm gonna take a guess and say that the problem WAS the old slave.

dude... do it. Its easy. you can just toss out the whole dampener when you're through. Just make sure you have a pair of vice grips, cuz the fittings fcuking suck and get rounded out easy.

And if the SR is still there, it'll be mine by the end of this summer...maybe sooner.
