ha, paul thanks a lot.
Now so everyone doesn't mess their stuff up:
Don't pull off any of your needles unless you first remove the little black stopper on the gauge face itself and then let the neelde sit down at its true zero. then mark the needle and go ahead and pull it off, you can even scrape the white off the back and hit it with whatever color you want your needle to be. This applies the same to all needles.
You might not get the lighting effect you are looking for unless you remove all of the backlighting bulbs in your gauge face and take off the little blue caps. I'm only impressed by this and there are no negative effects.
You have to cut out all the tick marks by hand with an exacto knife, and its a *****.
However, if you use regular paper and go this route you almost need to leave your old gauge face on and just slip the piece of paper over the face. Sometimes everyhting doesnt line up as you want it to, but its still nice.
Other alternatives i havent tried but plan to include:
print out onto a transparency and make sure to leave the numbers and tickmarks clear, this is the easiest way i imagine, no old gauge face and no cutting
or print out onto a transparency and leave everything clear but the numbers and tickmarks and possible put something behind there like some EL lighting or something, definately dont use the old gauge face
get some photo paper, the ultra thick kind, print out what you want and then don't use the old gauge faces under it at all. You have to cut out the tick marks, but since you are re-designing it any way why not only make a tick mark once every five tickmarks?
i don't know i want you to go nuts and come up with something crazy and something that no one has ever seen.
for mine i just got rid of all the letters, only left the numbers and i'm using the JUN auto lemon yellow to lime green fade
the one im working on uses to tick marks at all. Instead at every thousand and at every five hundred rpm i cut out basically a needle. So if the actual needle is pointing over the "needle" you know what rpm you are at. looks crazy and i guarentee youve never seen anything like it, but its really hard to explain but really easy to understand
