So here's the deal, I have an '89 coupe and I removed the horn button when I swapped steering wheels. I never used it and didn't think it was necessary. Tried getting inspected and it won't pass till it has a working horn. I asked them if I could just relocate it, and they said that it was fine.

I had an extra horn button laying around that I soldered two leads to it and put spiral wire wrap on it to make a tether for the horn button.

My question is, anyone know off hand which lead on the column is for the horn?I know i just have to ground that line out to make the horn work. Even if you might now the color of the wire would be great help.

thanks for any info in advance

don't know if this really helps you but i had to relocate as well. like im sure a lot of people have, but i personally gave up on finding my problem in the steering column .

all i did was run a wire from both my horns thru the firewall to the ground side of my button and i removed my cig lighter and took the power from there. you can put the button wherever you want.

it only works when the car is on, but thats the only time i use it so im good. and if ya want it to work when its not on i guess you may want to find another source of power.

ghetto but it works, so any wire with power should work

correct me if im wrong

posted on a couple other forums and from what I was told, there is a harness on the column, on the underside. I found it and it's a connector of three different green wires, the horn lead is the green one with a white stripe. So hope that helps other people as well.

FlatBlackIan on here relocated his to a toggle switch on his s14 if I remember correctly.

Shoot him an e-mail. I'm sure he'll be able to help.

Yep, after my last night I went out and did it. Works beautifully, then on my way to drop it off at the shop at about 1am I got pulled over. On my birthday no less. When I go pick it up from the shop I'll take a pic.
