I am missing the heater duct (since i won't have AC) and blower motor unit which i'm hoping to grab from a junkyard if any in my area even have a 240
is anything supposed to be inside the heater unit other than the heater core? i just want to make sure im not missing anything else

Try moving the lever on the controls to see if the door operates correctly. If it doesn't, repair that first. Otherwise, you'll need the correct piping at the fire wall to connect to the heater core (if you don't already have it). In regards to the heater core, I suggest buying new. They're not that expensive, and the peace of mind of knowing it won't fail in the near future would be great to have.
You should also buy some extra coolant since your level will drop some filling up the system the first time.

is the piping your talking about the coolant lines from the engine? Sounds like a good idea on the heater core i'll look into finding a new one. Are there sites that sell them or just try and find one on ebay?

You can probably get a heater core from any autoparts store or rockauto.com.

As for lines, there are usually metal lines and then flexible lines to connect to the heater core using hose clamps.
Heres a generic photo to give you an idea.

Firewall side/engine bay heater core connection on the 240sx.

I do not know where the heater core on the 240sx is under the dash, but it'll look like this and may occasionally be contained inside a plastic box.

I took a few pictures of the heater box for you. The nipples you see are the ones poking through the firewall. The core should slide out of the box for replacement.
