Hey...got hit while stopped, guy was doing around 20mph. Hatch glass shattered but the hatch itself seems fine. The hatch mechanism (where the keyhole is) is trashed as well as the bumper. The E-brake is loose, what would I need to adjust to tighten it up? The brakes in general seem fine as does the rest of the car mechanically.

Hope you're OK. I am certain you will find more damage if you keep looking. 20mph in any car is a LOT of energy...much more than would be consumed by shattering the rear glass and by deformation of the bumper. If the e-brake is looser than it was, I would bet it's because the rear frame was shifted forward, putting slack into the cable. Look for a hole in the rotor between or near the studs to adjust it. Get a tape measure and measure the front wheels relative to the back wheels. Measure center to center--one wheel may have shifted more than the other.

never ASSUME your car is ok after an accident

always take it to a mechanic...its worth the money in the long run

most things you can do yourself... but with this i would recommend a mechy.

Thanks...20 mph may be an exaggeration. I'm not sure if he was stopped and then drove into me or if he had more room to speed up. I can say that the car felt fine up to 70mph or so. I've got to get on the horn with his insurance and see what they'll let me do before they come to check it out.

hey, that sucks about your car, mine got rear ended too. i am trying to fix it as much as i can to keep it drivable till i get another 240, i am tring to take off the bumper to straighten it out, so i can put my exhaust back on. did you take yours off? i can see 2 places where the bumper attaches to the car, but on the passanger side there are no bolts attached to it, and on the driver side there are. is it kinda glued on there or something? i tried to take off the bumper cover, but it is bent so i cant get the screws on the corners and on the bottom off. i am thinking of just cutting it off, but is that necessary?
