Hey,My gas struts have been worn out for about 4 years now on my 1991 S13. The local Nissan dealer here in Orlando quoted me $116 each for the Hatch Struts !

http://catalog.autopartsgo.com...&y=21These guys at Auto Parts to Go list the part as $26.30 each.

Has anyone got another more economical solution?I think the $26 is pretty cheap enough. I guess I'm willing to pay that.I'm more inclined to go to a storeand buy the part. Thanks,BobOrlando,Fl

dude i replaced my hatch struts with some generic ones from Kragen Auto Parts (local store) and after installation there was no difference. For example, if i just unlock my hatch and pop it, it wants to fall shut. I have to lift it up about one foot for it to stand still.....3/4 up for it to want to lift itself up.

Are your struts like this?

i dont own a nissan. but thats what they are suppose to do the weight of the hatch on the struts causes it to close. those struts are intended as "stays" not lifts. I do have a little knowledge on nissans thou seein how I am a nissan specialist for a dealer...lol

Hey,I'll take your word on it. It's been so long since my struts on the hatch worked.I do remember that they only had to be "assisted" up a few inches by hand and then the gas shocks started driving the hatch up.The hatch shouldn't fall like a rock. Thanks for the Nissan Wholesale parts link. Believe me,there is no substitute for oem Nismo parts!Bob Fagan49yr old Nissan S13 Enthusiast!
