This harsh metal on metal or should i say rusted metal on rusted metal kinda of noise seems to be coming from the rear passenger side brakes. It only happens when i reverse or let the car roll backwards.

Some people said its the driveshaft, but the driveshaft is in the center of the vehicle and noise seems to be coming from the rear passenger side..

while others have said its my brakes....

Could someone, who may have had this issue with the s13, kindly please point me to possible areas before i start to wreck this POS.

Thanks

Pull the wheels off and check to see if the brakes are metal to metal. It could also be the carrier bearing for the drive shaft going bad.

I had the same problem on my 89, I changed the pads and it didn't help. I changed the caliper and the problem went away. When I reversed It sounded like major gear damage, the rebuild kit was as much as a rebuilt caliper, the caliper was an easy change (did both)
