Been having problems lately starting my 1990 s13 and am starting to think it may be the fuel pump. It still has the stock ka24e motor in it and i don't believe that any of the previous owners have replaced the pump before. Starting to be bit of a headache because it only starts when it wants too. Every so often (now more frequently) when i go to start it up, it will immediately start then die and won't start again
. If i let the car sit for a couple of days it will eventually start. Shooting a squirt of starter fluid will start it up for a brief second then it will die once again. It has spark and the compression is still quite good for a motor with over 200k miles lol. I'm assuming its a fuel delivery issue. I've read that nissan helped us 240sx owners out and made it fairly simple to replace the pump through the trunk which saves me the headache of bringing it somewhere. Is there any other little things that i should check before I go ahead and replace the pump? The fuse for the fuel pump is in good shape and other then starting the car it drives without any issues. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank You.
