About a month or so ago I was having problems with acceleration. This is on a dual cam. It was very hesitant and sluggish so I checked the fuel pressure and it was like 18psi...i wasn't getting fuel. Replaced the fuel pump and it was working great. Acceleration was good and no hesitation. Well a couple days ago, the same thing started happening again. Sluggish and hesitant. Same feel as before. I'm going Ka-T in a couple weeks and I want to get this figured out before I put in a Walbro. Any ideas why my fuel pumps keep going bad? Thanks, Sean

Fresh fuel pump, better response. Its like new tires, stick great for a while, but slowly start to wear. Did you check out the fuel filter yet?

When you check the pressure, post the results and maybe we can go from there. Try puttin some Seafoam into the gas tank and run it around.

the walbro 255lph pump WILL make your car run very rich, as the fuel pressure will be too high.

well ill be doing the walbro when i turbo in a couple weeks, I'm not putting in the walbro with it NA. But if its my fuel pump that keeps going bad i dont want to spend $80 every 2 or 3 weeks on a new fuel pump. Ill check the FP tomorrow and post up what it is.

There could also be something in your gas tank killing your fuel pumps, if you change the filter open up the old one and look for contaminates that could be eating up your fuel pumps

Alright, I changed my filter and put in a bottle of injector cleaner and its running good again. When I took the old filter off and turned it upside down all kinds of black crap came out of it. Think I should clean the tank out?

If it stays running well with a new fuel filter, then I wouldn't worry about it, unless you constantly run your tank to empty but if you do have the time, it couldn't hurt.

Kudos to finding all that crap in there, hopefully the fuel injector cleaner will flush the rest ofthat crap out of the injectors and fuel rail and burn it up in the combustion chamber. Good luck!
