Post

I own a 93' Nissan 240sx, 180sx front/s13 back and I want to do a front end conversion to make it a full s13 from front to backI just moved back to the states 2 years ago from Japan (hence the DN), bought my car last year, and the hybrid look is kinda bugging me since im used to seeing either the 180sx OR the S13 and not a combination of the two

BUT! Im not exactly rolling in dough these days (im going to college at the same time so money is kinda tight), so i don't have the money up front (or credit limit, lol) to pay for a full kit.

So What I'm planning on doing is buying every piece I need one by one over time. I just need to make sure I have a full shopping list.

So far I know I need:

s13 Headlights s13 front bumpers13 fenders s13 hood

Im eventually gonna install a turbo so im gonna get a new front mounting clip and radiator etc.

is there anything else I need? Is there anything I should particularly kno about doing an s13 front conversion?

links to legitimate and reliable body parts shops would be appreciated!

Also, i live in Cibolo/San Antonio, so if anyone from here reads this it'd be kool if you let me in on the good shops in town

THANKS TO ALL IN ADVANCE!

Radiator supports are identical across all S13s

I'll save the OP some time and effort:2x Headlight brackets2x HeadlightsBumper supportBumper cover2x FendersHoodCenter grill2x corner lights2x bumper turn signals (same as 89-90 240sx bumper turn signals)

We do have a tech article on how to swap to the Silvia front end and it lists all the parts. You may want to check it out.

reading pwns joo.

OP is from japan. to him, 89 - 93 240sx coupes look like a Silvia rear with a 180sx front end. The 240SX hatches would look like 180SXs.

thank you very much for clearing that up

let me reiterate and clarify once again by saying:

"Im used to seeing the S13 OR 180SX," there is no such thing as the 240sx in Japan.

In Japan:

89-93 = 180sx --> ca18det 89-93 = S13 --> Silvia K series ka24de or ka24d 94-97 = S14 Zenki --> ka24de, sr20de, or sr20de-t (there were a few years in japan where it was an option, aftermarket and manufacture)98 = S14 Kouki --> sr20de or sr20de-t

All of which in America are variations and mix up of the Japanese models collectively known as 240sx and all American versions come stock with ka24de or ka24d

Huh? I'll assume you're only talking about the s13 and up models.

Granted, I'm not from J-Land, but I'm pretty sure that there was never a KA in a Silvia. There were CA18DE and CA18DET offered in the s13s (for the 89 - 90 model years) in addition to the SR20DE and DET (91 - 93 model years). And what is a ka24d? You mean KA24E? Which is the SOHC USDM 240SX motor.

Hey OP everyone seems to be an expert on S-chassis these days. People from different areas will refer to certain things differently. They don't realize that not everyone comes from the same background and has the same perspective as they do. I'm sure you've already found that out being here in the US for 2 years now. BTW, I'm sorry that you have to live in TX.

one misunderstanding i keep finding is people referring to the s13 silvia as an s13 when the 180sx is also an s13. it makes things kinda confusing

It's just how a lot of people on the other side of the lake say it. One of my good friends is Australian, so I've gotten accustomed to seeing S13 refer to just Silvia.

In Japan the CA18DET comes in the 180SX and is NOT refered to as a SILVIA... EVER (in japan). It also comes in the early S13

Once again, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 240SX IN JAPAN

The S13, S14, and S15 all fall under the name Silvia (hence the S). The J through K (there's a "Q" model in case you were wondering, and there's even an A series, which is very rare) used the sr20det (sr20de in Spec-S and det in Spec- R).

google a picture of an S13 IN JAPAN and try to find one showing the back side, i promise you it will say SILVIA on the back in blocky letters, and the A in SILVIA looks kinda like a triangle. The S14 and S15 used more cursive style lettering on the back. In fact, i've even taken the time to find one for you:

http://us1.webpublications.com...o.jpg

and yes, just to be fair, i do me KA24E, sorry (type-o)

Not trying to be pushy or correcty (correcty? lol). I just want to make sure im clear/making sense on my end
