im looking at purchasing an s13 front clip. probably a redtop just becasue money is a factor being that im still in high school. just for a lil background: im driving a 91 240sx se with a ka24de all stock.my questions are...a) does the rear axle come with the front clip? and if not does it need to be changed to handle the added power?b)where can i find a front clip at a cheap price. ive seen it range from 2000-2800 and id like to find a credible website to order from c)does the exhaust need to be upgraded with the motor swap? or could the stock exhaust handle the motor for a whiled) are there any places on the east coast where i can get a front clip at a low price. preferably somewhat close to NC. i figure if i can find one on the east coast i could go pick it up with some friends and save money on shipping.

thanks for all of your help.

a) No, Nob) No clue, but remember cheap doesn't always equal goodc) It doesn't have to be but it is beneficial. You will most likely need to purchase a downpipe as not many clips/motorsets come with them.d) same as b?

i have a stock DP. The stock exhaust will work but you won't like it. You WILL think "i just spend 3000 bucks on this thing and its running like this?" I felt that way for about a week till my exhaust came in.

i understand cheap isnt always good. basically by cheap im looking for the best quality/dollar. for example, if i find a clip with 40k miles for 2500 and a clip just as good wiht 45k miles but for 2000 then ill take the one for 2000. and i realize now that the 2 questions do seem similar. sorry for that, i didnt mean to restate my question. thanks for the help

I feel you there. I was worried when i got the motorset from ejuku because it was a set and not a clip. Let me tell you i am VERY glad i got the set from them. The motor was imaculate and it runs strong. Same great price but mutch better quality than many other vendors.

I bought my clip from Chip at Cardinal Performance. It had about 33K miles on it and was very clean. I believe he is out of redtops right now, but is making another run to the motherland for another container sometime soon. I paid toward the upper end of your range listed in the first post, but also received a LSD rear subframe and driveshaft.

I think it was well worth it. BTW...my motor was pretty stock with stock hardly worn clutch.

I do not know if they have a website, but you can email Chip here [email protected]. He has a fulltime job with Delta or something so it may take him a day or two to reply.

Also, he is located just southwest of Atlanta in Newnan.

halfway sarcastic, if i could find someone to hand me money to fix up my car i sure as hell would take it. but yeah i know i wont find anyone to do it. i gotta get the money for that motor though. the valve seals on my ka are leaking. its not bad yet but it will be eventually. i can buy a reman ka for 1500 with all new parts or i can get the problem fixed for about 500. so i figure why fix the valve seals cause im just gonna have antoher problem down the line. and 500 here 500 there 500 a lil down the road.... shoulda just gotten the new motor and been done. why buy a new ka when for another 1000 or 2000 i can have a sr put in. i wish my parents thouhgt like that so theyd help fund this project. but at least i can pull up next to some kid at school and say yeah youd beat me but its not your car cause you didnt buy it and dont insure it.

Do they have a shop? I live about 10 mins from newnan, and would really like to find some other 240 enthusiasts in south atlanta. 240's Over Atlanta is great...they just hang out too far north for me.

Don't forget about http://www.jgycustoms.com . They're in Southern VA, prolly about 3-3.5 hours from Raleigh.

I do not believe he has a shop. When I picked up my clip it was at a storage facility that he owned/rented. He had several clips, but I heard that he is down to one S14 blacktop (and it may be gone). He was really great and my transaction went smoothly. After hearing more and more people getting taken on clips I am REALLY glad I was able to pick mine up. There are not a lot of shops in the Southeast.

Yeah I forget about them and Unstable Hybrids.

I just got my Greddy oilpan from JGY today. Maybe my motor will come to life tomorrow.

hmmm...a friend of mine bought an s13 redtop clip from a guy at a storage facility in Newnan out on 16. Not sure about the guy's name, but his friend/business partner was Wes something. Same guy? My friend's clip was in good shape overall...aside from have oil throughout the turbo and piping. The inside of the engine was in beautiful shape though, almost no wear at all.

edit: unstable no longer sells motors, afaik

I do not know about Wes.

My clip looks like it had a pretty easy life. Only has 33500miles and everything was stock. When I pulled the turbo inlet mine has a little oil right inside and the piping looks like it has just a little in it. Chip said that most of this batch were like that. I think they just had a rough ride over and got tossed around some.

Yeah, I don't think unstable does motors anymore. They are focusing on their custom products.

I can vouch for http://www.jarcoinc.com in georgia, i have bough several things from them and they well all in great condition when they arrived (silvia front end, 4 skyline wheels, etc...). Their front clips almost always come with aftermarket parts still on them and i have seen a few SR powered 240s running motors from them personally.

Buy an SR and tell your parents that the $2000+ it cost was the price for the same goood condition KA motor as you cuurently have, How will they know the difference between a KA or SR let alone the pricing difference between buying either or?
