I got a JDM s13 fog light switch about 4 months ago and had been trying to figure out the wiring to it, but in checking it with my multimeter I can't get it to work...only the night illumination. It also didn't come with a wiring harness (end). I found another one online a few days ago with the harness plug so I ordered it...when it came in I noticed it's a little different then the other I have. First off...in checking my new one I got it to work fine (on the work bench)...on/off works fine and the night illumination does too. Actually it's got two pairs of switched wires and the pair for the night illumination. Here are the pictures...anyone that knows the difference let me know:

BTW the one on the right is the one that works.

Foglights were available in the 240sx Nissan inventory since the first one in 1989. Probably the same for the JDM versions. Based on the similarities of the switches, I would say you have a defective switch (the first one) and they are problably different years/models. But also check that the pins are setup the same on both switches...just in case.

Both of these switches are JDM. They both came from JDM clips but not sure if they were 180sx's or Silvia's or both. I would agree with you amolao that they are just from different year models. In my testing each, they are not pinned the same...plus the one that does not work has screw in replaceable bulbs, the other you would have to pry iopen to change the bulb...like the USDM hazzard switch. I'm going to use the OEM switch to turn my Canadian Day Running lights on and off...going to use them as fog lights. Just like that clean OEM look. Once I get them in and working I'll post more.

I'm using these in my CDRL's. They are yellow and really really bright.

I would love to use 3000K HIDs but they would melt the housing .

looks good. i dont know about the light output compared to real foglights but that should work for your aesthetic needs.

Yeah...light output will be a minimum but it will look nice. I just like the look of the CDRL on the Chūki front end. I may order a set of these after the install:http://www.superbrightleds.com/specs/1156-xLX5.htm

The one on the left and one on right in 2nd pic, look like S13 fog switch. Looks exactly like mine, that I got with my front end conversion. It uses the big plug, there was a plug on my car that matched the switch plug. So it was a plug and play, had to install relay in engine bay relay box and IIRC a fuse. There was a plug by battery that is an output for fog lights. Just had to make a wiring harness from that plug to each fog light. Fog lights work with low beams only. I haven't had time but this could be bypassed by testing to see what is needed to turn on fog lights with parking lights on or just to do an on/off. Think a diode would have to be used, so parking and head lights would not come on when turning the fog lights on. Not sure would have to check wiring diagram and go from there. Too many things that have be done first before I mess around with my lights.

Just my 2cents.

By the way it's a '90 240sx coupe, if your wondering.

Thanks for the info. I've seen where several guys have that harness plug under their dash...just wonder if all US s13's do...I'll have to check under my dash this weekend. I've also read where if you bypass the relay you can run the fog lights with the high beams but not sure.

I found the empty plug under my dash for the fog light switch...plugged it in and the night illumination works. Here is a pic...sorry for the quality:

I also found the two wire harness plug behind the battery (one orange wire and one black)...now I just need to get a fog light relay and then run wires from the harness behind the battery to each CDRL. Here is a pic of the harness plug:

Hope this helps anyone else wanting to use the factory fog light harness...I'll post more when I get my relay.

So, you used one on the right side and it was plug and play, right? I finally got a JDM 180sx fog light switch and the plug looks just like yours. How stweet is that! I think middle two pins are for the night illumination. Mine won't light up at night, so middle two pins are missing. Switch goes to where the coin holder goes. Man, I've been looking for this switch forever and I'm glad it's plug and play.

Hey, on that last pic you have that fog switch that goes by the coin pocket, have you put it in yet? Did it plug in to the factory harness? I want to get that one because the jdm silvia makes me have to replace my cruise control buttons or my defroster button and I don't want to do that crapola
