so i bought a 248 from a 91 240put my motor to tdc (i think)the cams were both pointing outthe timing marks on the crank were lined upthe 1st piston was at tdc (so would have to be on compression stoke right?)i removed the cam gear and zip tied it to chain to keep stock set upswaped camsmoved gear teeth 4 to leftput gear back on cam and spun cam little till it would fit onto gearput all back togetherspun motor 1080 deg. to make sure no valves gunna hit... goodbut when startit reved up to like 1400 then droped to 300 then sputterd around 500 like it really really wanted to dieso...........did i not get tdc on compression?is my timing off?the cams are not pointing exactly away from eachotherbut this is cuse the 4 teeth i had to move... correct?

so i just tried to go back stock, spun the intake gear 4 teeth clockwiseand now it wont run at all... everytime before i start it i spin it lots to make sure valves clearwell did that and valves all goodbut just wont run now...

so to get it running i would....get my motor to tdc according to crank pully, check dist. to be on #1 cy. then take intake cam gear off and slip chain off exhaust gearspin exhaust cam till points out, away from the motorthen spin intake cam till it points out, away from motorthen lay the chain back in exhaust cam gearthen put intake cam gear back on intake camif i do this, I think my chain keys will be all messed up, which makes no since to me cuse I never took them off of the bottom gear or exhaust gear, but that wont matter cuse motor and cams will be in tune with crank showing tdcdoes that sound right?

can see how exhaust is pointing a bit upcrank is showing tdcso if i just take chain off exhaust and move it 2 teeth cw would look like this?

could the exhaust being off stop the motor from running...i know intake you can play with a bit but idk about exhaust
