Alright here goes..

I have a s13 93 coupe. At first I though of a sr swap, but everyone does a sr swap. So I then looked into the ca, which I love because of the high rev. Then once again I changed my mind and I was going with my already in ka and upgrade the internals and turbo. I still don't know exactly which engine I wanna go with.

What I want is a sweet engine which we all want but my aim is a high top speed! That's my main goal, drift as well. I was also wondering if any of these engines can support a supercharger?

go search about the engines cuz people will start flaming you if you start asking which engine is better...

nobody makes superchargers for 240s so just go turbo if you want forced induction

*nodnod* They make it for the KA24DE, not KA20DE. . . Unless you got a KA24DE in your car? O_o;

Yeah, I'm trying to decide between a SR20DET, and RB25DET. . . All the SR ppl are all nice and cool about it, and some of the RB ppl are flamers about it. Sooo, I'd go with the SR, people with them are nicer XD

Get a VG...

or just get whatever you want that gets you to the level you want. If you want some serious tuning potential and high speed, try to get an RB26DETT if you can afford to and are willing to fabricate all the stuff you need to make it fit.

If you just want a fast zippy car that is very capable and keeps your weight balance normal, then either an SR or KAT. A CA if you want something light, and also very capable. This is a very general listing though cause im sure there are many other reasons whether to get or not to get a certain engine.

Im opting for a KAT, just cause i just dont want the hassle of swaping out engines

As far as top speed goes, there was a guy with a CA (not sure if it was this board or not) awhile back that was mildly modded and he got it up to 192MPH.

I suggest you look at the amount of money your willing to spend and the ease of installation. KA-T would probably be easy and somewhat pricey. SR swaps are done by "everyone" because it's a damn good engine, so if your thinking of not doing that swap because "everyone" else is doing it.....well then you are ruling out a great performance engine with plenty accessability to thousands of parts and support out of sheer ignorance. In your effort to be different just think of this: Someone has already done just about all your choices, if it were not so then you would have no performance parts options and you'd have to fabricate/find your own. So don't rule out the SR because "everyone" else does it. Rule it out for logical reasons. I don't mean to sound like an @ss, but you gotta sit down and really weigh your options and do some serious thinking about it. I won't comment on the CA's or RB's because I don't have any knowledge about swapping either of those badboy's in. Bottomline: Don't rule out an SR because "everyone" else has done it. In fact that should be a good thing to you. It means you have more of a chance for meeting people who can help you with the swap and/or future problems and tuning. Just my 99cents....

Top speed is utterly pointless unless your going to spend big money on aero, and I mean windtunnel time, not ebay body kits. One guy posted data sheets of him going about 170mph on a SR with a S15 T28 at a closed course with more rpms availible to go even faster, and he said noise and window buffeting were rediculous at that speed. Top speed runs are incredibly dangerous on a car like the s13 if it is not equiped with at least a roll-cage and 5 point harness.

Engine choice comes down to personal prefrence in my opinion. If your new to the wrenching game, start out with something simple other than motor work.

I am of the opinion that everyone should do all possible engine swaps. If you choose a non-oem engine (RB, VG, etc) you will pay alot of money for custom wiring and welding.

I personally would like a built N/A KA and a CA in a S13 chassis. I would then expand my garage with a S13 SR20 in a S14 chassis and a RB25 S14 as well. Sounds like too much fun, huh!

Within the year I hope to return to SCCA Autocross. Due to the way the rules read, I am personally leaning torwards N/A KA to keep myself in Street Prepared at worst. KA-T and SR would throw you into Street Modified.

That's another consideration. If you are interested in doing any sort of amateur competition, examine the rules.

I would like to thank everyone for their opinions. It's been really helpful.

Currently I'm working on footwork. I have bigger brakes, parts for a five lug conversion, LSD, and some other goodies. I asked the question because I've been thinking of with engine best suits what I what want out of my 240. I've been a fan of the ca for a while. So I'll most likely will go with the CA and make it a 2.0 with a bigger turbo. I want at least 300 hp. I'll do my homework on how to get it up to 300hp... Don't want the lamers flamming me.

Again thanks alot guys...
