I recently purchased a '89 240sx and almost none of the electronics work. Only the pass. window works. none of the interior lights work and the head lights don't flip. Most importantly, the automatic seatbelt on the drivers side don't work. Is this a common problem? I went to the dealer and they wanted almost $3,000 just to fix the one window. also someone threw a brick at me and shattered my hatch. Does anyone know where I might get a replacement, possibly lexan or plexi? Any help would be appreciated, I would like to keep this car. I used to own classic VWs but I'm onto nissans now. I've never had as much fun in a car as I do in the 240.

First off, Welcome to NICO!

As for your hatch issue, check our classifieds forum! It's the most active Nissan/Infiniti classifieds on the web!

In regards to your electrical, I would first check out the engine fuse boxes and check to make sure not only the fuses are fine, but more importantly the larger, fusible links. From there, if your having almost all electronics failing, you may want to opt to pull the wiring harness out of a junkyard s13 or find one from someone parting an s13 out and just toss your old one. Good luck with these issues!

Werd on the grounds. Time to invest in a multimeter and see if anything's getting power, continuity and grounding.

Plexi and lexan windows would probably cost quite a bit to have done right, not to mention long term cost and time to keep it up would be murder.

The seatbelt Problem you are having is probibly just a problem with the door switch, but take your car to the dealer for this as the seatbelt system has a LIFETIME WARRANTY on it. If the dealer tells you "no it does not", tell them you would like that in writing, and would be glad to turn it over to your lawyer as they are commiting fraud. All auto seatbelts have a lifetime warranty on them as this was a US federally regulated program- Thats why all of the non US cars had regular seatbelts and we got the gay auto belts.

thank you all for your help. The dealership said I needed new motor($500),Regulator(1,000) and switch($250) then like $300 in labor, on top of the $230 they charged me for the diagnostics. They also didnt mention why the seat belt didn't work.
