According to a quick google search, only automatics have it so you won't have to worry. I have never heard about it before now though.

I know autos have it.....Its a link between the ECU and the TCM and it makes the car shift smoother....I want to disable it (if possible) so the car has a snappy shift (again... if possible)....Ive heard of others doing it, but never heard their results...I just want to know if it works....[a "how to" would be cool if anybody's got the info...]

Smoother is always better, even with a manual.

dropping resistor you mean? That's not anything you'd want to have removed. A myth from folks who believed that having a transmission that slams into the next gear is "faster," when in reality it leads to faster transmission failure.

heres an article about the DUET EA system......

"Automatic models also feature Nissan's "DUET-EA" system, an electronic link between the engine control module (ECM) and the transmission designed to facilitate smoother, more controlled shifts. Many users have been known to circumvent this system however in favor of a more "sports car" feeling to the ride, similar to that of an aggressively shifted manual transmission."

how am i the only one thats heard of this? and im not worried about phucking up my transmission cuz im getting another one... as stated above...i did say that already right?

Maybe because most of the people have 5 speed transmissions on the forum, and the people that have automatics, don't really want a jerky shifting experience. I don't know about you, but when I am driving stick, I try to make it smooth as butter.

thats what im trying to figure out ....if its really that jerky or if its like how a "shift kit" would shift (or a truck A/T...get my drift?) i think you guys are missing my point....once again for the 3rd time ... i really dont care if it messes up my transmission,or if its really rough cuz im getting a five speed i just want to know if this mod works (i already know it works i just want to know how its done)

no more negative feedback please...

nvmd i found it...it regulates the transmission fluid pressure, to soften the shifting for comfort http://www.240sx.org/faq/artic...o.htm

You should have specified that you only wanted positive feedback on how it would drive! We were confused. We thought you wanted real feedback on how it would work and what negative impacts it would have on your transmission.

Hahaha. No problem. Either way, beat the piss out of the automatic transmission. The only place they belong is in the junkyard. Automatics make me sad.

This actually works.....it shifts way faster....and its not as rough as i thought it was gunna be...just a slight jerk....i would'nt leave it off all the time though...maybe put a switch so you can turn it on or off whenever

It does work, I unplugged mine and got the "Snappier" shift going on for a week. Kind of a pain in the rain though. Imagine taking off from a stop light taking a left, and that first to second shift almost always breaks the rear wheels loose. On my open diff anyway. Another thing I noticed and the reason I hooked it back up, on deceleration, it jumps from 3rd to overdrive until you come to a stop. Now, automagics don't down shift when you slow down, but it does kick its self out of overdrive and into third and stays there. The jumping gives you more of a coasting feeling. Maybe it was just mine, but you wanted some input so I obliged...
