Venus Auto has this for sale:

S13 6 Bolt ABS VLSD and axles S13 5 Bolt non-ABS VLSD and axles

I have a 89 240sx non ABS, does it matter which setup i purchase? The only difference between the abs and non abs diff housings are the abs snout is a little longer correct? Any differences in the output shafts?

BTW, i think their price is $250 shipped, so if anybody has anything cheaper, let me know

Ive read You can go with either setup, with the 6bolt setup you wont need the axles because your old ones will fit right on, if it has abs you its ok your drive shaft has enough play to still bolt it on. The 5 bolt setup you will need to use the axles and the there is no difference in length on where the the drive shaft bolts up.

another question.

Im the proud owner of a torque-less CA18DET. I found a J30 VLSD, but will the change in gear ratio (4.08 to 3.92) be so great as to really slow me down?

it depends what you want to do with the car. ca's are more high revving already with that difference you'll lose a little bottom end but nothing that will be bad. i was actually going to run a 3.54 final drive which would be really nice on an sr or ca but then i went with such a huge turbo that the 3.54 gearing will just amplify my turbo lag. if you're interested email for more details and info cuz i'm now selling the 3.54 gearing and if you do want to change the gearing now would be a good time with the diff already being replaced

i just want to drift and have some fun on the street (i know..bad..). I read you can swap the J30 VLSD center into the S13 and get the 4.08 final drive back so if i really dont like the 3.92 from the J30, i'll swap it. Thanks for the input.

NOw if you want a good diff for off the line but crappy top end look at the R32 GTST diff 4.32 gear.

damn thats short lol I really like the J30 so far on paper. it gives a little more top end/gas mileage and isn't to tall to make a huge impact, and if i ever need to get more "off the line", i can swap the center into the stock open diff housing. gives me alot of flexability in my build i guess xP
