Mines an 89 240sx Coupe with red top sr20det, greddy front strut bar, intrax springs, kyb shocks, K&N filter, and 2.5" custom crush bent exhaust. My friend's 90 240sx Fastback with red top sr20det, HKS Type S FMIC, HKS Super Sequential bov, Blitz 3" dp, Greddy EVO 3" catback exhaust with test pipe, HKS filter, stock LSD from 98 180sx, z32 fuel pump, and some sort of aftermarket springs.

Well, we were parked in front of his house and he just got back from work and I was in his front lawn checking out his younger brother's mr2 turbo and his new 3sgte sitting on the ground. I decided to leave and my friend decided to go to the bank too so he said that since we were both going the same way he wanted to test my car. So he told me to wait for him so I did parked in front of his house revving and so he pulls up beside me revving as well...he looks at me and says "Go!" and I immediately launch and I took a glimpse to see if he launched already and I noticed he hasn't launched so I started braking(I was only a car ahead by this time) and he suddenly launches right after me and immediately stays by my side evenly. I immediately had my gas pedal to the metal and started pulling on him, shifted into 2nd and I'm about half a car ahead...goes into third(we both chirped) and he quickly jumps up to my front tires and then I started pullling on him again and then he just started braking and so did I as a 90 degree corner was coming up. It was a killer race!!! Whew...

I don't understand....gears one through three is not a "killer race". What point are you trying to make?

Depending on your budget, I'd toss the crush bent exhaust and get a 3" mandrel like an Apexi N1 or something.

Heck, throw in a boost controller and a FMIC, and he wont have a chance.

BTW, how did you pull of passing emissions in Cali with a SR20DET?

The crush bent exhaust came with the car when I bought it, but eventually I will have it replaced with an aftermarket exhaust.

And my friends just knew this one guy that can make it pass!

Did he make IT pass or did he make YOU pass? There's a difference between making the engine pass smog (which to my knowledge is impossible) and just making you pass (which would be the case cause its a lot easier - just smog another car in place of your VIN). So which is it?

Haha...that's what all my other friends said. But I don't know...as soon as the new drag strip opens up in this city we'll do an official run.

It's hard not to street race on the Southern California freeway systems. Just the other day, I heard that the CHP is having a problem on the 22, where 12-15 cars will slow down traffic, then drag the length of it before ducking off into Garden Grove.

There are some cars that can't be truly pushed to their max.. safely.. for more than 30 seconds or so, on the public roads. I think that most SR swapped 240s fall into that category. Luckily, there are some real race tracks, not too far outside of the LA.

Whenever you're out on the roads, the cops are looking for an excuse to pull you over. Especially, the CHP. It'd suck to take the fall, from the CHP guy who really wanted to bust an 11sec Integra... but was willing to settle for a swapped 240. You know?

I have never raced on a freeway/highway before, only on desserted straightaways. But there will be a drag strip opening up here soon like I mentioned above in one of my posts and that's where I'll be doing all my racing from now on when it opens.

Where's the new drag strip opening up at? If you get the urge to really open your car up, Terminal Island in Long Beach is still pretty good. There's a good, couple mile long stretch that you can open it up through. It's only really safely open though, around 3-4am. Though, these days they are doing construction on one of the bridges... and the truckers are still working crazy hours because of the work stoppage.

The new drag strip called "Drag City" is opening up in the Inland Empire city of Banning. It's about thirty minutes west of Palm Springs; right now the closest drag strip from Banning is California Speedway in Fontana...I believe San Bernardino has a drag strip too, but haven't heard much about it and not sure if it's open for the public.

That'll be dope when it gets up and running. My buddy's dad has a condo in Indian Wells that he very rarely uses. It would be fun to make a weekend of going out to the drags, and kicking back. Someone told me it only takes like an hour and a half to get Palm Springs, from Long Beach... if you do it at the right time. Like early Saturday morning.

Yes, Banning isn't far from the major Orange County cities, it's about a good 45 minutes-1 hour drive from here to Irvine/Santa Ana/Westminster/Long Beach...but yes I'm sure the weekends here will be much safer and much more fun with the local drag strip opening. Honestly though there will be lots of Domestics there, which is a good thing : p
