Started out as I was going to my friend's house around the block. And I turned onto the main street which is a long straightaway street, unfortunately where my friend lives was about 1/8th of a mile b4 the street ended. So I turn a left going to my friends house and then I notice that these headlights were coming up fast behind me and then it pulled next to me since I was granny shifting taking my time. It was my older brother is a 98 GSX with 3 of our buddies. His car has an a'pexi filter and 3" turbo back. The passenger from his car yells out while I'm rolling down my window to see if I wanted to run. And the passenger was the friend that I was going to so we passed up his house and lined up about 25 feet away towards then end of the street(1/8th mile) which intersects into another street. We quickly line up and the passenger starts counting down and I start revving and "3!!!" I take off with wheel spinning and the GSX takes off about a car and a half on me. Second gear and I close in to them about a car away and in the middle of third gear I was pulling them in fast...then a set of headlights come turns around the corner and since I was only a bit passed his rear bumper and still reeling him in fast I just let my foot off that gas and started braking.

So of course...a lost is a lost. They were all buzzed from drinking anyhow so they were a bit crazy. Normally I don't street race, but my brother's been bugging me lately to race him so I took the offer. Next time will be at the drag strip and since he doesn't want to waste $20 to race over there I'll be paying for him.

I was alone in my car(red top sr20det) with 3" catback and ABD filter that I got from our friend that counted down the race. DSM owns! :(

haha yea those GSXs own until they blow the welds on their intake and drop their passenger's floor off from shooting too much naws. good job though, sounds like a fun race.

im pretty sure the eclipse in the FNF was fwd, maybe not even a turbo model.

launching makes a difference, you guys were equally modded but he weighs more stock, and have a full load of people.

work on launching

and dont drive next to people that have been drinking.

I must agree with Anthony on this, not a smart decision no matter how good of a driver they are.

yea is was a FWD non turbo but in the movie it was supposed to be a GSX. I didn't notice the drunk driving part, that's all kind of bad business, expecially with cross traffic only 1/8 mile away:eek:

Actually I didn't know they were drinking until we got back to our friend's house, although they did act a bit strange than usual when they pulled up next to me.

But don't worry guys...nismo 2 way lsd with 225 tires in the back are going in in a few weeks so traction should not be much of an issue anymore on launches. I was spinning out a bit with these 205s I have right now.

Actually I think their(95-96 model) stock boost is 14 psi, but I could be wrong. I read that up on a dsm forum a while back. The 97-98 model may have been the same, but oh well I'll ask my dsm buddies to clarify.

really, they run that much stock? i would think since is almost exactly the same motor through the years the boost would stay the same. seems like alot of boost for only 210hp stock

After driving DSMs for years I can tell you never EVER race one from a stop. I cut multiple 1.7 60fts on 205/50/16 street tires pretty easily. Next time try it from a 20mph roll or something. While AWD helps from a stop, from a rolling start it's a pretty big disadvantage due to drivetrain power loss.

The Eclipse in FnF was not just non-turbo, it was a base model RS. FWD and powered by the Dodge 420A. It's obvious when he pops the hood. You can see the 420 valve cover sticking up. Same motor as a Dodge Neon.

so how much boost do they run stock? and yea my buddy's launch got me bad but i started to catch him fast. if he upgraded his turbo i would be kind screwed right now. but with my new fuel system half way done plus getting drag radials in the near future i shouldnt have too much of a problem

Depends on of it's a 1G or 2G DSM. 1Gs are the most mod friendly. Stock they can handle 15. Upgrade the fuel pump and get an AFC, that turns into 18. Get injectors and something like a 16G, that turns into 20. By that time you're deep in the 13s in the 1/4. Most people call DSMs crap, but buck for buck they move you the fastest. With just about a grand in mods I saw 8.4s in the 1/8th mile. 2G arn't nearly as easy to deal with. 2 oxygen sensors, OBD2, weight, and that crappy T-25 make them not as equal. The max he could run without turning the T-25 into a hair dryer is 14 to 15. I've heard of guys running more, but its pointless.

RS I believe from Arlington, TX. Non-turbo... but don't take my word for it. But isn't it hilarious that there was a civic integra and eclipse against an RX-7? Even with modification I consider that to be an unbalanced race...

I don't think the car was from Arlington(because I am, and I've never seen it), but it was definately an RS with a 420A from a Neon. Part of DiamondStarMotors joke on the world. Putting a Dodge motor in a Mitsu.

It was in some magazine somewhere, I'll have to dig it up. I'm from Lewisville and I didn't even know it was in Texas...
