Has this ever been done before? I think it would look damn awesome. I know people in Japan like to make their cars into El Camino's, like the JDM Levin I drove... I have seen the "El Camino'd" 180 in some vids, but would love to see someone chop the top off a hatchback.

It'd have to be a targa top. The "hoop" over the hatch is a structural member.

I have pictures of what used to be my S110. A retard in an SUV put an end to its life. I will find the link to where they are posted when I get home.

My 84 CRX (Si clone) became a targa top...

We were installing a sunroof (drunk) and screwed it up, so i left it for the night. Next morning, we braced the B-pillars and lopped off the center of the roof... Roommate welded header and roof panels, and welded in some pins and sleeves and Voila! World's first CRX targa top.

It was cool for a while, then I damaged the top panel so it was a perma-vert. :)

What have we learned? Alcohol + cars = great projects that are hardly remembered.

best drunken car story i've read was a cavalier out of SCC. A guy woke up after a night of heavy drinking and went out to his garage to see his engine in pieces. He doesn't remember ever doing it.

Big job.

Better plan on a 6-point cage and lots of welding.

It's not a Nissan truck. It's a 180sx fastback with the hatch part and quarter windows hacked off. As well as the Silvia front-end conversion. Definetly a different looking S13! :)

That drift truck is pretty interesting. I don't know...I love it and hate it all at the same time. I get the same feeling as that other thread with the s14 hatchback photochop. I look at it and one minute it's that's the sex0r, i'd fap fap all over that, and the next minute it's, damn that's a station wagon missing 2 doors...

Someone posted the targa top s13 one time, they made a run of custom ones over in europe somewhere or something like that.

edit: found the link.

so an (92) s13 hatchback with a targa top would sacrifice the umm.. structure to it, right? colld you "counter" this problem with a roll bar??? or would you need a roll cage?
