So, i'm not sure how this happened, but I think the clutch pedal in my s13 is completely broken. I'm having to pull it up with my foot (or hand) after every few shifts, not because it stays on the floor, but because it only comes up halfway. That's not the bad part though: when it comes up, it wants to orient itself kinda at a 45 degree angle so it actually wedges itself under the brake pedal. Needless to say, this is kind of annoying and not conducive to a pleasant driving experience. :P

It LOOKS like what happened is the metal frame for the pedal assembly actually CAME APART at one of the seams. ??? has this happened to anyone else? I'm guessing there's no real solution except to have the whole thing replaced, right? I'll try to post a picture of what happened tomorrow.

1. is there a metal epoxy that would hold? or not strong enough?
2. do you think i've damaged the rest of the working of the clutch by depressing the pedal at an angle? it still shifts fine once the clutch is all the way in, it's just hard to get it all the way in sometimes because of the angle (THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID).

thanks :)

your only real choice here is to replace the clutch pedal assembly, its tough but not too bad. If the pushrod for the clutch master cylinder is bent you will need to replace it, you may have also damaged the o-rings inside it but you will only be able to tell when it starts leaking or if you take it apart. they are pretty cheap i would buy a new one just to save the hassle of having it leave you stranded.

Doing some more googling, it looks like other people have had the same issue, both with s13 and s14s. It's the weld on the U-bracket thing, which some people say is like a $20 part and can be replaced easily, or just welded back together? lies?

I was estimted $150 from a local shop that was recommended for 240sx's. $100 for the pedal, $50 for labor. Sound right?

thanks again.

100 bucks seems about right for a brand new pedal assembly, i got one out of a s13 shell i would ship to you for 60. as far as install goes 50 isnt bad, its alot of lying on your back and working over your head.
