I am running an 89 s13 AT SOHC and find that the RPMs are a bit shy on letting me get a jump in the corners. The car is fast but it feels like it could be better because it sorta bogs in the corner as you stand on it. Was thinking that a few hundred more at the top end of the straight would be a harder launch out of the corner to dust a few more H cars...Any help with specific gear trans etc combos greatly appreciated.

What gear and at what RPM are you at when you enter the corner? If your in 3rd and high rpm, then just shift into 4th mid corner and romp on the gas. I feel (90 s13 w/ SOHC) 4th gear is the best gear for the S13. I've never had a 4th gear that felt as good as the S13's does. If your looking for more acceleration out of a turn, put on some smaller wheels and tires. That way you can go into the corner in a higher gear and maintain your speed with plenty of gear left for the exit. There's not much you can do about the transmission but you could go with a different gear in the diff.

or are you looking for more throttle response out of the corner?
