S13 Check engine light on

The light is on the first 5 minutes and goes off but sometimes just stays on.

I pulled the ecu out and turned the screw to read the error codes.

I turned the screw clockwise all the way and the red lights in the cluster light up. Then I turned the screw all the way counter clockwise and the check engine light was off and never blinked.

How can I find the error?

Turn the screw clockwise. Wait until the LEDs flash 3 times, then turn it back.It will then flash the code(s) via the LEDs in the ECU.
