I took a chance on doing this conversion simply because of all the negative remarks I've heard in the past about legality, poor beam pattern etc.

But I've never heard of someone doing this with a quality E-code reflector, just with ebay crap.

I don't think it turned out so bad, what do ya'll think?

This is done with Bosch E-code reflectors & McCulloch 8K HID kit. Although I admit the 8k is too blue for me, I'll pik up a set of 6k bulbs soon.

That actually looks really really good. If you don't mind me asking, how much did everything cost?

Ok, I will take better pics when i get a tripod soon.

Here's what it cost to do this.

Bosch E-code H4 reflectors from PDM racing $100

McCulloch HID conversion $255

Relay harness $60

Being able to see at nite, priceless

Looks really nice man. I have been contemplating the 10k or the 12k conversion on my S14. They are just as bright but add more bluish/purplish hew to the color of the lights. McCulloch makes awesome lights and seeing your swap has convinced to to go ahead and do it.

What I really like about them is the kit is plug and play, there really is no need to do a bunch of wiring, except for the relays.

I'd like to see a write as well, even though it will be alittle bit different for my conversion.

One of my main concerns is how oncoming traffic and ppl in front of you (looking in rear view) will see your lights.

I have teh bosch right now & was going to put in my mccullochs also, but ever since I installed my coilovers, my car has that "rapid up down shaking" on the road and I'm afraid of blinding ppl w/ HID's .

I do have them aimed alittle lower then usual, but they still put out a good amount of light & have yet to be highbeamed.

http://www.supramania.com/foru...eaded here's another good read from a supra forum on doing a HID conversion. To me this is the best one yet because he addresses the cut off issue with the Hid Shield for h4 bulbs from Casper Electronics.

There's really not much involved in the installation. Hardest part is just finding a cool, dry spot for your ballast.

Also, for an S13, you should get a ballast with a seperate ignitor. This will give you enough room for your flip-ups to pivot properly without impingment.

i did a hid conversion on my s14. i went through hids4u.co.uk since i figured "hey the euros deal with this stuff on a daily basis since (exaggeration) every car over there has it!" plus it was nicely priced

turned out wonderfully, too. came with everything i needed (bulbs, ballasts, wires). and they have just about every color (see: bulb temperature), if not every one, to choose from. i have 6000k myself. as long as they're aimed properly you won't be blinding/killing people

What is the relay for? I found a kit from xenonking.com but for the Bi-Xenon kit it is $430, Did you get the bi xenon kit for $255 since you talked about highbeams? or how exactly does all that work? I'd like to do an HID upgrade on my S13 but I'd like to get a little more info first. Thanks
