Well, I searched, but maybe I couldn't find the right words, so I didn't get the answer I needed. I have recently fully built a s13(1991) KA24DE head. My car, a 95, is an s14 with it's original engine in it. Can I drop the S13 ('91) rebuilt head on the s14 block? Are there any mods required. I know that the valve cover bolt patter is different, but other than that, is everything OK? I have a spare s13 block with all it's components, but it's not assembled (it' s supposed to be used later on a full block rebuild), so I'd rather just put the head on my current block, since I can't afford to buy all the pistons and rods I want, right now.

so what you're really trying to ask is can you use a s13 head on an s14 block right?

I've never had to pull any of my s14 heads, but i can see any conflicts

the only thing you would have to worry about is the headbolt pattern being different, which im almost positive its not

and the other thing would be the upper front timing cover, you need to use the S13. I'm almost positive that it would bolt up to the S14 lower timing cover, but if it doesn't you could just bolt on the lower timing cover too

speaking as someone who has never done this, i say you can do it

you can, i've done it before, you are gonna have to use the S13 front cover & valve cover, lower cover is fine, the back of the S14 has another plate for some vacuum lines to be held, its not same as S13 but it'll fit(1 bolt i believe). head bolt pattern is same

That plate for vacum lines aren't really necessary, are they? I mean, the plate isn't vital for the function of the head, correct? it's just for holding those vacuum lines, yes?or is this plate more serious than I thought? btw, what are those vacum lines for? EGR? if so, can I bypass them? Sorry to ask so many questions, but people don't really discuss this aspect.

it's just a (really ****ty) place to have the vacuum lines run through the solenoids. They control the intake manifold secondary butterflys (s13 only) and the EGR valve.

So if I block the egr, I don't really need those? (I have an s14, therefore an s14 intake mani)btw, nice signature.
