Here's a pic of my setup. 4 gauge from KnuKonceptz, and the only battery terminals I had at the time. I used a small battery because I did not want to drop the gas tank in order to bolt down the tray, and because I have very little power needs except for starting the car and running the engine.

The cable runs directly to the starter, then an 8 gauge for main power has been daisy-chained and run to the relays. I cut the old ground cable in the engine bay off, so there is only the cable that runs from the lower intake manifold to the battery tray.

Slightly off topic:
I got a full size optima yellow top in my trunk - in a battery box mounted to the floor like that. But I didn't put bolts under it I just threaded it in. Didn't work out to well - it ripped the ties right out of the chassis so now I'm going to weld a 1/4in plate of mild steel on top of the hole and weld thicker tie down bars into it and build the box around that.

But good job on yours :) I love trunk batteries - makes everything easier to wire and cleaner in my opinion.

you should put it in a box man...#1 to protect the terminals from arcing on sumpin that may roll around on ya..#2..batterys make gasses if there not the sealed type like an optima....#3..if your in an accident you may have battery acid flying all over you and your car..just my thoughts..good luck

Looks like it might be a dry cell...if not, yeah, 2 and 3 are legitimate risks. Of course #1 is always a risk, but assuming the tie-down is good, there shouldn't be a problem.

I'd sure hate to get rear ended with my battery that close.

This car doesnt get much use, nothing to put in the trunk. Anyways, that is one reason that fuse is 1' away from the terminal.

The battery is sealed, no gasses or acid.
