I've been looking online for some time now on doing a 5 speed swap on my 91 240sx have most of the parts off a 1995 s14. The major question i have is will i have to get the s13 lower transmission harness or will the s14 one work just fine? I have the same question about the cross member. lol any help will be greatly appreciated.

Im pretty sure the cross member is the same. as far as lower harness you dont even really need one. the s14 transmission has a top position sensor but you have a s13 so it doesnt even apply. All you need is reverse lights, speed cable (make sure u get a s13 speed sensor) and jump the wires at the top by the fuse box. And the drive shaft is different of course. I just did a 5 speed swap to my daily. id post pics but im lazy lol.

no, you dont need the 5 speed ecu. It actually revs a little higher with the auto ecu also :) lol

hey new to the forum i just had a question, if i throw a dohc motor with a automatic transmission in a coupe that had a dohc with a manuel transmission would it work? my concern is the wiring harness from the transmission? theres some connectors missing from the fuse box on the passenger side that the harness from the auto transmission is suppose to connect to. would i need a completely new harness from a automatic coupe? sorry to be off topic i dont know how to make my own thread? :frown:

Could always get a lower auto transmission harness much easier to get than the manual one as lone as you get the harness it should work fine even the manual gauge cluster will work but I'm pretty sure you'll need the auto speed sensor. I know frsport.com sells the auto harness oem for about 150

It's more difficult to toss an A/T into a M/T chassis. There's a lot of wiring missing on the chassis harness.

so basically replace the m/t chassis harness with a a/t one? assuming the car wouldnt work with the missing wiring?

hmmmi was unaware youy can always get engine harness and lower harness for pretty cheap with the ecu unless you can use the m/t.
