Ok, just got an 89 240 and got it running pretty good. been driving it for a couple of weeks and tried to fix the headlights that wouldn't go down. I replaced the arm on the steering column and that fixed the permanent up problem. At the same time, I installed altima elec fans and wired up a switch to run them with and have it on the panel with the rear wiper motor switch, in that area so to speak.

That's where my problem started. fans work, lights work, what doesn't work is the auto seatbelts will not retract. The wipers will not come on. And the instrument cluster gauges do not work. They seem to be stuck where they were when I cut the car off. The tach is at 0 always, speedo at 0 always, temp is barely above the bottom line. The lights on the cluster work fine, also the battery light on the panel is barely lighting up, just enough to notice it at night.

I have the switch from the fans running a positive wire from the battery to the fans, through firewall at the hood pop grommet, to the switch. It's grounded at one of the brake pedal bolts.

The car is a 89 fastback with kae motor, power windows, locks, rear wiper motor, 5 speed, analog cluster, also has an aftermarket radio.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Was mainly wondering if these systems have a common ground or relay. Checked all fuses and tried to make sense of the wiring diagrams available on other posts.
