Honestly, the issue here is that these Ebay vendors buy such a large quantity that they get giant discounts per item. So, they pop 'em up on Ebay and undersell the specialty shops that offer what would normally be good pricing.
$380 shipped would have been a great price, if it weren't for the Ebayers that bought 500 radiators @ $150 each, then marked them up 50-75%.
However, with some items, there's much to be said for purchasing from an actual store with real people. For example, buy some crap wastegate on Ebay and it blows up your motor, you're just outta luck. Buy a wastegate from a specialty store, it's gonna be good because they won't ever stock the crappy part in the first place.
Additionally, it's always nice to be able to take something back to a store when there's a problem, instead of going through SquareTrade and all it's gayness (and I sincerely think they're all idiots there).
Chris, something you should really look into would be in-store financing.
No, not AMS actually financing the deal, but AMS getting established with a lending institution that could swing high APR loans for low credit customers.
One of the local shops did that here in town and they outsell the other 3 or 4 shops by more than half, both parts AND labor. Additionally, they're able to charge good prices, not ripping anyone off, but not killing the profit so badly that they can barely stay open. People don't mind paying a little extra later to get good stuff now.
Remember, DSM = ****loads of money to be spent.
240sx = don't have ****loads of money, otherwise they'd own something else.
