S13 and S14 distributor compatibility

i have been told when swapping a s14 head on to s13 block that you nee to swap the front cover, and distributor to match the head. is it possible to just swap the rotor and cap for the distributor? that is all that i see a difference in and i don't have a spare s14 distributor to compare with

You can't use a S14 dis on a S13 and vice versa unless you wire it to work. Just swap whatever head you want and use the dis for the chassis. The only thing not compatable as far as heads go from 13 to 14 is the valve cover. Bolt pattern is different as is bolt size.
