As some of you may know, I've had problems with a JGY Customs machined block. Well now I am looking for a 'new' block to work with. I have a friend with a S14 block he is willing to sell me for a good price. I was wondering if the block itself has any major differences versus the S13 block besides the oil squirters. Does my S13 head bolt up with no problems along with everything else? Thanks.

Nevermind I figured it out. The S14 block is basically the same.

how did JGY screw the block up? Or should I ask, how bad did they screw it up?

Lets just say I wanted to find the biggest poundometer around and destroy the evidence that I ever even did business with them. Just dig up the thread "Head Gasket Woes". The whole explanation is in there. You can also find the same topic on FA. Simply put, they halfassed my whole motor and took over 9 months to do it for a large sum of money. The block is now useless, along with two sets of CP pistons.

The head, I believe will bolt right up. The water pump design is different with the S14 than the S13 counterparts. If I'm not mistaken, so is the oil pump design and the block that the oil filter and the oil pressure sender unit goes to as well. The redtop and the blacktops have a difference in the actual oil pickup thing. The blacktops have a better design compared to the redtops. Otherwise, they should be pretty much the same.
