Members have had cheapo tension rod break.

Look at SPL or somebody reputable.

Tension rods only change caster, not camber.

Please post thread where someone describes their aftermarket tension rod breaking for reference.

It already been posted, Andy. You just need to read the posts before you comment!

Here's a hint: It was on a G50.

Why do you think I asked you to reference it-SO I COULD READ IT!

I think its very important to have first hand facts on stuff like this-not "Members have had cheapo tension rod break."

<sigh>

Here's a case of a suspension part designed for another (lighter) car breaking when used on a Q. It's not a Tension Rod, so it's probably irrelevant zer...16663

Perhaps our librarian will step in as he caters to the terminally lazy.

Thanks for this thread-it is a great example of why its important to sometimes have original threads and not someone's recollection. This thread is about good quality aftermarket struts failing and the aftermarket control arm failing the next day.

Most NEW people would equate Stillen and SPL and would say that "cheap eBay" items are no good-this thread says the exact opposite. tokico blues and Stillen suspension pieces fail and the cheap eBay knock off looks "solid."

I just wanted to help out on this great forum, we've all read "That's no good or won't work" but its good to try some things out-can't we agree on that?

My intent was to show that suspension parts that fit from lighter weight cars may not last under all conditions, and as experienced by jamesmost, caused another part to fail. As I recall, the (Z32) Upper Link broke which would have contributed to the (Q45) strut failure.

I forgot about James' car.. I talked with him at length and I really think he had others causing the arm to break, but I would like to try and find the thread with the tension rod, its got a lot of great pics...

I think james had a worn kingpin bearing causing the upperlink to not be aligned right because he broke an SPL upper link too!
