s13 "active" speakers

sorry for so many posts at once.. but i gotta ask b4 i put the amp in to drive my speakers inside, so here goes

i have the s13 hatch and the "active" speakers mean they are powered externally by a stock amp am i correct? i took apart my door panel today and saw all these little microchips and wires behind the speakers in my door panels so i went and took everything out excpet for the original harness coming from the radio.

i bought a panasonic head unit and its non powered, so i am goin to run an amp to my 4 speakers.. so question is have i correctly taken out the complete "active" assembly, and also if so when installing i just run all speakers to the amp(without even touching the head unit, so bypassing the factory harness in the door panel mentioned above) then from the amp i go to the cd players rca inputs for the front and rear channels?
