s13 acting up really bad

need help, i was driving my 240 last night and all of the sudden i heard a pop from the exhaust and the car seemed like it was slowly dieing, and when in nuetral if i pressed on the accelerator the car would only rev up to 3000rpms, and if i was driving the car would go up to 2500rpms and then anytrhing after that it would start jumping really bad and the whole car would shake. is it a back pressure problem with the exhaust, because i saw a lot of fumes coming from the catalytic converter. would an exhaust leak even make something like that happen? or is there something else wrong. please help.

Undo the 2 bolts at the front of the catalytic converter and run it straight pipe and see if the car is drivable again. If so than the cat clogged. Of that is the issue id be looking into why you suddenly fried a cat..... Stuck injector, bad o ring, o2 .....,etc.

took the whole cat off and it stll only revs up to 3000 rpms and it flutters like the governer is set for 3000 instead of 7000, what could it be?

That sounds like the maf sensor than. Your check your ecu for codes?

Key on, turn screw clockwise for 2 seconds than counterclockwise and codes will start flashing in the ecu.

Yea. It was my mass air flow sensor. Nothing was wrong with it, just the plug was loose. I clipped it back on and havent had a problem since. I recommend you open it up if it is plugged in and make sure that the contacts aren't broken. I had to re solder mine a while back. It hasnt acted up since though. Hope that helps.

a lot of ppl say MAF sensor. i guess i will buckle down and get it. my issue is getting worse so i'll do this and hopefully it fixes it
