the other day i tried turning my ac on and nothing happened. no lights on the climate control were on at all nothing. i could turn the blower on at different speeds and couldnt control the blower direction. anyways checked and ended up the fuse blew. replaced it. everything works fine but as soon as i turn the ac on the car idle jumps on and the ac kicks on then the fuse blows. and it worked before. i tried putting a higher fuse in and going from the stock 10amp to a 25amp and the 25amp fuse does not blow, and ac works etc. but i am not going to run that high of an amp fuse due to the chances of fire etc. s13 sr20det with ka24de compressor. three of four bolts in compressor, compressor is solidly mounted and lined up correctly etc. any ideas?

Why on Earth would you put a bigger fuse than whats needed???

Check out the service manual for more info: http://Nicoclub.com/FSM

If it blows the fuse when the compressor comes on then most likely it has a shorted magnetic clutch coil.

You can replace just the clutch if you want to but it probably will cost you just about the same as a re- manufactured compressor and it is a lot more trouble.

well i tried unplugging the the compressor under the hood and it still blows the fuse. would pulling a 12 switch from the climate control cause this issue? i had an amp installed and my headunit wasnt putting out enough on the 12 volt switch. they said they would run it from somewhere else. could this cause this?
