s13 5lug conversion NON-COILOVER setup

Ive been doin alot of research on the 5lug conversion on the s13, and every tech artical i read, they say you cant use 240 struts in the rear cause there bolt and the 300zx are fork, so they use coilovers and use the bottom half of the strut from the 300zx. This is very expensive in my opinion, and i dont want coilovers (yet) but i do wanna do the 5lug conversion. Has anyone done the conversion using springs, and how did you modify the struts in the rear. Any information is greatly appreciated.

If I understand correctly, you don't need to change anything but the hub in the rear. To put the Z brakes in the rear you need to do what you mentioned, but that isn't required for a 5-lug conversion.
