I have one or two bad synchros. Makes it hard to shift into second gear and reverse.

How much should it cost to rebuild?What are the best shops to take it?

After the repair....would a short shifter hurt the transmission?

it might be cheaper to find a new trans and swap it in. Any shop I've gone to to get quotes on manual trans rebuilds quotes at least $200+ and you can pick up a decent trans in LA for $150.

I don't know about the short shifter, I've never had a problem with one, but then maybe I have if I have to get quotes on rebuilding a trans...

I went to some idiot shop in 2000 and asked them to rebuild it. They said "try a used one first". And it had the same problem. They said to break it in and each time I returned the jerks said it was ok. By the time I went to B.A.R., the shop said my warranty was over.
